💥 AURORA BOREALIS ALERT ✨

The term aurora borealis originated in the 1600s, when Galileo combined the word “aurora,” the Latin word for “dawn,” with the term “boreal,” the Greek word for “north.” Aurora also appears in the southern hemisphere, where it is called the “aurora australis.”

The aurora borealis (Northern Lights) occurs when a coronal mass ejection (CME), a massive burst of solar wind and magnetic fields, interacts with elements in the earth’s atmosphere. CME’s are often associated with other forms of solar activity, most notably solar flares, according to the National Park Service.

On Tuesday November 11 and it was said to be visible in up to 22 US states as well as Canada, Scandinavia, Scotland, Iceland, and Russia.
